My favorite show of this season is ABC Family’s Switched at Birth!  It chronicles the aftermath of two families who find out that their teenage daughters are not their biological children.  The interesting twist to the show is that one of the girls is hearing impaired as a result of a viral infection as a toddler.

This show has spurned an interest in learning American Sign Language (ASL).  I have always loved this language and I have friends who are hearing impaired and others who speak ASL as a second language.

To find out more information on how to learn the basics of ASL, please check out these free websites below!  It’s a fun way to learn more about the deaf community and their culture!  Also be sure to check out ABC Family’s Switched at Birth – Mondays @ 9/8 central.
